This would be my second reflection for this course, and I would explore my experience not only in creating the slides and combining our thoughts but also in speaking about working with a classmate.

SPSA Reflection Paper

My partner and I had different points, so we tried coming together to create an SPSA video. We decided to unite to promote having “clean and accessible places,” which combines our ideas well. I helped create the slides aesthetically, as well as did the introduction and slide informing about Accessibility to Public Parks and the Cited Reference Slide. Not only that, but I also edited the video, created it, and added the music behind it. With my input in developing the complete introduction, I suggested that we both stick with the idea of “Clean and accessible places” because it was simple and direct. Then, we would also introduce both points we had for our papers. I believe the introduction slide represents our sustainability topic because it presents two serious issues that some may not even be aware of, which could capture the audience’s attention. However, it may be too vague because we couldn’t put too much on the slide. In our closing slide, we mentioned how citizens should be aware of where e-scooters should be parked, how citizens should also be able to throw trash away in the proper area as well and that if these violations are seen, they should call 311, which is the NYC state government, in doing so we try and advocate that the community do something first and if all else fails they should take it to the government. Something new I learned was that my partner’s topic was something I had never truly realized. I had also seen scooters but never genuinely thought of the impact they could have. It made me realize how dangerous electrical scooters are. My slides show a bit of a suitable environment that gets ruined by problems we sometimes face. Some may not realize, but the details that I placed in the slides show scooters or trash in areas they shouldn’t be, almost like showing a story, and even at the end of the call to action, you see people picking up trash and an area with no scooters in sight. I believe sharing all the information on our issues was a bit hard. I felt as if cutting all the information was just not enough. I still think there is so much more to each topic, and I believe that it’s essential for society to know about the small things because I would like to know about them if presented with an issue. There are other ways, such as videos with more than just slides showing the actual problem instead. However, the slides could be a good way to present an issue if done right. It’s just a bit difficult to summarize everything in a few bullet points. The most favorable aspect of working on a group project was getting to know someone new! It’s always good to make a new friend. I don’t believe there was a least favorable aspect of working on a group project; maybe one would be that I tend to get a bit shy with someone I don’t know at first. If I were to have a suggestion for making this project better, it would probably be that there needs to be at least one class that focuses on Canva because some students didn’t know about this platform or didn’t even know how to use it. I believe it would save time for both the teacher and the students to learn how to navigate it a bit; maybe not have the whole class time be about Canva, but at least touching upon the subject would be nice for some students who did struggle at first.
